Zoning
The City of
Cleveland has adopted zoning regulations
in accordance with a comprehensive plan
for the purpose of promoting the health,
safety, and general welfare of the city
and its inhabitants.
Refer to
Zoning in Chapter 126 in the City of Cleveland
ordinances provided by
the
Municipal Code Corporation website.
Zoning Commission
From time to
time the City Council may amend or
change the districts or regulations
established in the zoning ordinance.
The council must submit any proposed
revisions to the zoning commission for
its recommendation and report. The
zoning commission will hold a public
hearing before submitting its final
report. For a complete
understanding of the zoning commission,
please refer the
zoning ordinance. Also
requests for property re-zoning may be
submitted to the zoning commission.
A
re-zoning application must be
submitted in person to the Development
Services Coordinator.

Board of Adjustments
A Board of
Adjustments, consisting of five members
who are appointed by the City Council,
has been established the hear and decide
appeals against requirements, decisions,
or determinations made by the building
official. To request a variance to
the zoning ordinance, you may submit a
Board of
Adjustments application stating your
reason for the variance. This
application must be submitted in person
to the Development Services Coordinator.
