City continuing efforts
to remove junked vehicles.
Despite numerous warnings, some homeowners
are still reluctant to clean up their properties. But the city is
not backing down from the promise to enforce ordinances that forbid
inoperable junked vehicles; inhibit substandard and non-permitted
construction; and outlaw scrap metal, trash and debris from being stored
in clear view of passerby. The city has a list of individuals who
can assist a property owner in removing a junked vehicle or hauling away
scrap metal. For more information, call the City offices at (281)
592-2667.

Cleveland
Advocate to start publishing photos of
Cleveland's messiest homes & businesses.
by Vanessa Brashier
Starting in
the March 19 edition of the Advocate,
they will begin publishing photographs
of the most offensive properties in
town. With Cleveland on the cusp
of growth, now is the time to put our
best face forward. Not only are we
making a bad impression on visitors and
potential business investors, a junky
property can bring down the property
values of nearby homes.

City Council Approves New Weather
Station Grant
In a special
call council meeting on March 19, the
Cleveland City Council passed a
resolution that approved a grant
application for an Automated Weather
Observation Station (AWOS) which will be
stationed at the municipal airport.
An AWOS provides accurate and up-to-date
weather information which is essential
to the safe and economic operation of
any airport, large or small. The
grant for federal funds will cover
$100,000 of the total cost of $125,000
for the new weather station. The
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)
will administer the grant, however the
City of Cleveland will still provide the
remaining $25,000 in local matching
funds. A proposition for the
expenditure will appear on the May 10
ballot.
