Property & Evidence Unit

Responsibilities

The mission of the Cleveland Police Department’s Property and Evidence Unit is to maintain the care, custody, and control of all items of evidence of criminal cases until a final disposition is obtained by the courts. Property and Evidence also secures items collected for safekeeping, found, or abandoned property and strives to return all recovered, found, or abandoned property back to its rightful owners.

How to Claim / Retrieve Property

Property may be released by appointment, with proper identification (driver’s license or state ID card), Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments are available on Thursdays and weekends by special arrangement only.
