Cleveland Municipal Sports Park

The City of Cleveland announced on July 28 that Phase 1 of its municipal park baseball/softball complex is now open for scheduled play. The facility is located five miles east of downtown Cleveland at 26350 SH 321. It consists of two lighted baseball/softball fields and two T-ball fields, plus covered bleachers and score tables, a full concession stand and modern restrooms.

The 97-acre facility was designed by Burditt Construction and was built by Axiom Construction, both of Conroe. Additional construction is planned for another multi-purpose field for soccer and football, and a nature trail with identified trees and wildlife. According to city officials, these are planned to be announced within the coming months.

The new park is now open to all league play, youth sports, men and women’s softball tournaments, as well as practice for all teams, including select and league play for upcoming events. Those interested in arranging for practice or regular play at the new facility should call 281-592-2395.

“We are so proud of this new facility,” Mayor Niki Coats said. “It has been a long time coming, but over time we expect it will attract several thousand sports-minded visitors to the city and become one of the area’s most popular sports attractions.

“I especially want to acknowledge the tireless efforts of our public works people in making this facility a reality, and particularly the work of Willie Carter, president of the Economic Development Corporation, and a special thank you to all of the EDC board members and countless volunteers. They all did a first-rate job and I am proud of every one of them.”
